Who remembers Prince Valiant?
That was the hero of the comic series originating in the late 1930s.
And he did wear a tabard like this one.
Technically this costume is not complete without the adequate wig ;-)

The simple pattern and the emblem are completely self-made, I just used the guidelines the Prince Valiant comics gave me.
I allowed myself to use a fusible patch cut into the correct form for the horse head on the emblem. That turned out very well :-)
