Men’s Vest

Men's Vest
Actually this vest was supposed to be a test piece for a larger project, but the finished vest is beautiful enough to get a side of its own here ;-)

The vest is made out of brocade fabric with dark violet roses on it, it has a lordly black lining and is closed with bronze-coloured buttons in one row.

There is also a black tie out of the beautifull lining fabric matching the vest.

Mourning Robe

Mourning Robe
There were strict rules for how long you had to go into mourning in the victorian times, depending on the degree of relationship and standing of the deceased and which could extend up to a whole year.
That is why a woman in a mourning dress was not a rare sight these days.

This outfit is a tailbodice and a lace-apron over a plain skirt.
Even the underwear, consisting of a petticoat and bloomers, is mourning-black.

The matching accessoiries are the Mourning Hat and the Bag for the Mourning Robe.

Mourning Hat

Mourning Hat
This hat is made for the Mourning Robe.

I used the pattern from Truly Victorian (TV550, 1880′s Buckram Hat Frame) once more, this time with the highest crown to match the era of the dress. I added some feathers and a black dotted veil.

Completed: 2014

Status: in my Klamottenkiste and was worn for the first time by Clara McCrimmon with the complete outfit at the fashion show of the Aethercircus 2014.

Tick-Tock Choker and Hairpin

Tick-Tock Choker and Hairpin
Hairpin and choker are made out of the same braid combination as seen on the Tick-Tock Dress and thereby they are the perfect accessories for the dress.
The clock face on the hairpin is a real one taken from an old out-of-order fob watch and is fixed with a little pearl.

Night Circus Dress (Poppet)

Night Circus Dress (Poppet)
The Night Circus is a book by Erin Morgenstern.
In her story about love and magic she describes a visually stunning world dominated by black and white that could not be more colourful and iridescent.

I had a thousand sewing ideas in mind while reading the book and this first actually sewn dress I dedicate to the character Poppet.
Poppet is a young girl with firey red hair who grew up in the Night Circus. Althought Poppet rather wears only white, I think of this Night Circus Dress as “her dress”.

It will certainly not be the last piece I will create inspired by this book.

Matching accessory are the Black Cameo Choker and the Black Cameo Earrings.

Black Cameo Choker

Black Cameo Choker
This sweet neckband with its black and white cameo is the matching necklace for the Black Cameo Earrings made by Sandra.
The cameo is attached to a satin bow on a velvet band, that is closed on the back with another satin bow.

This choker is made to wear with the Night Circus Dress.

Completed: 2013

Ruffled Parasol Earrings

Ruffled Parasol Earrings
When looking at these cute earrings I have somehow to thing of Alexia from The Parasol Protectorate-Series by Gail Carriger.
So that is where I got the name: Alexia’s codename was Ruffled Parasol after all ;-)

These earrings go well with Steampunk outfits as well as every day clothing.

Completed: 2013

Status: I really like to wear them
