Summer Rose

Summer Rose
All my kitsch-attacks have been concentrated to make this friendly coloured dress… and it is absolutely sweet :-)
The pattern belongs to the period of about 1873, the fabric and the embroidery could have come almost from that time as well.

The polonaise by itself is completed with a green skirt with the same embroidery as on the trimmings of the polonaise. The white petticoat with ther beautiful eyelet embroidery on the hemline and the flouncy embroidered cul-de-Paris are underneath.

The matching accessory are the Summer Rose Bag, the Summer Cameo Choker and the Butterfly Cameo Earrings.

Making of …

Summer Rose Cul de Paris
The pattern for the skirt and the bum-pillow are once more based on the same Burda pattern as for the Copper Dress.
The bum-pillow though has lots of little embroidered ruffles :-)
I adjusted the seamline of the skirt a bit, added a ruffle and some embroidery.

I additionally made a petticoat to give the skirt more volume. I used a Truly Victorian pattern (TV170, Victorian Petticoats).

The polonaise itself is made with the Truly Victorian pattern (TV410, 1873 Polonaise).
I embroidered the selvedges of the skirt’s fabric and sewed them on the polonaise as trim.
I left out the boning, apart from that the pattern is unchanged.

… in Action

Swenja in the Summer Rose
The dress had its great appearance at my first fashion show at the exhibition Machina Nostalgica.
It was presented by Swenja.

Status in my Klamottenkiste and I wore it for the first time Halloween 2013 as a Sleeping Beauty costume ;-)
