Airship Pirate

Airship Pirate
The idea for this costume took some time to turn into something concrete.
It should have a lond vest in any case and these beautiful wide pirate sleeves and trousers at knee-length.
So it almost became a classic pirate outfit, until I decided which pattern to use for the vest.
The pirate outfit turned into a Steampunk outfit just with the choice of fabric and the choice of this much loved and often used Steampunk-pattern.

The Emerald Gate Earrings from Sandra and a tiny little spy-glass on a chain around the neck completes the Outfit.
…but actually there should have been a tricorn too ;-)

Making of …

The sewing pattern for the vest is that of the coat from the Simplicity pattern 2172. It was a very quickly sewn piece since I left out die entire sleeves and the collar :-)
The green-brown washed-out colour gradient of the coarse cord fabric adds to the shabby look of the vest – so it is perfect for a bold pirate ;-)

The sewing pattern for the blouse is taken from the McCall’s pattern 6819. I had to change the shirt cuffs so that they can actually be unbuttoned and fit tightly on the wrist when closed.

The great pattern for the trousers is taken from F.I.M.I. (Winter 2007). The pattern fits so perfectly that I did not have to change it at all :-)
