Springtime Coat

Springtime Coat
This coat has such a wonderful silhouette with the narrow waist and the very wide flared hemline. Since it is shorter at the front than at the back seen in profil the coat is very beautiful, too :-)

The coat appears joyful and fanciful and therefore I even like it in this light colour. It swings widely when you move about in it. In my eyes it emenates lightness with that.

It is perfectly suited as a between-seasons coat and with all that it earned its labelling as Springtime Coat :-)

Making of …

I had this pattern on my sewing list since 2013. I even had the fabrics lying around here: The very beautiful ochre yellow needlecord with the subtle brown paisley print and the brown lining fabric. Everything ready to get started. But I hesitated for so long because I was not sure if I would be wearing a coat in such a light colour in everyday life.

Now I finally made it. And the waiting had something positive to it afterwards: I could sew it one number smaller than I would have in 2013 ;-)

The pattern is M6800 from McCall’s, the cover model B, and I did not have to make any changes to the pattern. I wanted to make the detachable fur collar as well, but I own such a beautiful fake fur vest that has the same effect when I am wearing it beneath the coat. So I skiped the collar :-)
